Much of our lives of course revolve around yearly cycles: a school year, a tax year, a sport's year — whatever.

• I don't take much stock in sports.
• A tax year is not something publishable.
• A school year is, but I've put that stuff somewhere else.

That leaves me with seasons and the Catholic liturgical calendar.
