The original plan for the honeymoon was to go to Croatia — not a country I'd ever thought I'd be going to, but supposedly an amazingly beautiful country. Situated as it is on the Mediterranean, that would surely have to be the case, I thought.

But on further reflection, Kinga and I decided to go back to Hungary.

It was partially due to the fact that my parents had flown in to Budapest and so we would have to go back there anyway. "And Balaton is only about 100 kilometers from there," Kinga explained, and so I was conviced. We left Wednesday morning for Budapest — my parents were flying out Thursday morning.

Departure was a simple affair of strapping the bikes on the roof and getting underway.

• Most of the large versions of the pictures are only 640 x 480 pixels (as opposed to my new standard of 800 x 600). This was because most pictures were taken on the lowest quality level to save camera memory — something which now seems unnecessary.
