In a village next to Lipnica Wielka lies Zubrzyca, where there is an outdoor museum begun several years ago and still under construction.

The idea is simple: to preserve old houses and traditions, move old, abandoned houses to a central location and renovate them. It's sort of like Colonial Williamsburg, on a much smaller scale.

I've been there several times, but the pictures here were taken in 2001 during a school trip.

At the outdoor museum one can buy pictures painted by a local artist (last name: Wertel). The technique is particularly difficult because the artist must start from the details and work outward from there.
