I spent about five days in Namestovo in late December 2002. Some friends had rented a cabin on the outskirts (for lack of a better description) of the town for several days, and the plan was simply to relax there and ring in the New Year together.

The weather was bizarre: first it rained for two days, then it became frigid — enough so to take a walk on the frozen lake.
